25 Weeks!
We can’t believe we are already twenty-five weeks pregnant! It seemed like it was just yesterday that it was the Saturday before Thanksgiving and I decided I would take a pregnancy test because I just didn’t feel right the week before. And sure enough, I yelled for Dustin and had him look at the test too, he confirmed what my eyes were seeing….We were PREGNANT!!!! We were overjoyed and relieved that it finally happened.
It was so hard to keep it from our families during our Thanksgiving break, but we did. We wanted to wait until we had gone to the doctor at seven weeks to confirm to tell everyone. Our plan was to tell everyone over Christmas Break (actually on Christmas Day). We made a little onesie for each family member and had a picture from the ultrasound in a Christmas present. We almost made it….only when I was skyping with my sister Beka one day she asked me if I was pregnant and I tried my best to keep the smile that wanted to come out at bay. I started laughing and was uncomfortable so I ended the call. When she called back I made up some excuse about the call ending. She then asked me to take a shot with her. Dustin filled up an old Rum bottle with water and we tried to fool her! Once Beka and Ray were back in SA, it was very hard to keep it from her. She kept asking and touching my stomach like she knew. So the weekend before our 1st appt. I couldn’t take it anymore and when Dustin got home from work we gave her and Ray their onesie! She was so excited she even shed a tear which she hardly ever does. I told her she had to keep her trap shut and pray that everything would go well at our appt.
Everything went wonderfully at our first ultrasound. We had a little blueblerry (as my niece Tori says it) growing and couldn’t have been more excited.
Dustin and I made the long trip out to Big Bend National Park the first week of Christmas Vacation to spend a couple of days with my parents out there. We had to wait a whole day because my dad came out the day after us. So when he finally got there, we sat them both down and gave them their early Christmas present. There was a lot of screaming and smiles! Again I had to tell them to keep quiet until we told everyone. I had to tell them because they would have figured something was going on when I couldn’t eat a hamburger (I was having aversions to them!) at the Starlight Theater in Terlingua! So we had a nice relaxing time in the Big Bend and then it was off to Del Rio.
Our next stop was to my brother’s house. We were met by my sister and Ray. We gave Josh, Liz and Tori their early present as well. Again lots of smiles and congrats! It was a special moment when Josh gave me a tight hug and said into my ear he was so happy for me. Well, that was all of my immediate family. Now we waited for Dustin’s sisters to get into town so we could tell them all together.
Dustin’s moms and grandparents gifts were shipped to them while we were at the Big Bend. We called them immediately and as soon as they received their gifts they opened them while on the phone with us. How we wished we could have been with them in person! Ginny, Mike , Mema and Papa were very excited as well!
We were still going to try and wait and tell the McDonald’s on Christmas eve when they open their presents together. But we were sitting at Dustin’s dads house and decided, lets tell them now. So Dustin went out to get the gifts and I got the camera ready and we asked everyone to come into the living room. There were a couple of whispers I could hear saying we were pregnant. Apparently the only one that was truly surprised was Janet. Everyone was excited and happy and smiling! Hugs all around and Landon was wondering where the real present was….LOL!! ;-) We then walked down the street to Dustin’s Grannies house and gave her her gift. She was very excited and immediately went in the other room and pulled out the baby blankets and goodies she made for Dustin years ago. We had our first baby present.
We called the extended family as soon as possible and shared the exciting news. Everyone knew, now to post on Facebook! :-)
